ohh i might have been a little unclear hehe,i got my thyoridgland removed not the decompression surgery..im thinking about it but my doctor says that 90% of the patients eyes go back to normal :S so many diffrent things people say dont know what to belive, but he said it could take up to a year after removing your gland until your body starts to recover,my hyperthyroidism was pretty severe so i think im gonna wait and see six months left til its been a year..
I got graves disease much younger than you. I’m still on treatments of medicine. I know excatly what you mean. people started to talk about my eyes too becasue it looked so different and huge.
so the decompression surgery, did it make your eyes less bulgy.
what kind of procedures was done?
did your hyperthyroidism get better or did you get radioactive iodine.
I got graves when i was 19,doctors said that it was rare for someone my age to get it. And i got the bulging eyes on the spot didn´t take more then a month or two.reeeeaaally uncomfortable. People started talking behind my back in my neighborhood that i was doing drugs or had HIV or something because you get the same symptoms, lost 20-25 kilos in one and a half month from 70 kilos to 49 something kilos??!! i´ve had the surgery any quoestions about it feel free
I have mood swings too.
no, I haven’t gotten decompression surgery done. It scares me when I have to get surgery on my eyes. but I’m sure you would completely agree with me that the bulging is really uncomfortable and annoying.
I’ve have graves disease for over 2 years now. It makes me so mad that there’s nothing you could do about it than surgery.
what age did you get hyperthyroidism?
did you get the decompression surgery done on your eyes?
anyone that have had this surgery? did it make you look like you did before..?
recovery time after surgery?
im thinking of having the surgey done since i had graves for three years, just removed it 5 months ago..and symptoms are fading slowly weight is back, but the mood swings are still there..
you should definetly pay attention to your eyes. I got protruding eyes just 9 monthes after I had hyperthyroidism. it happens to 99 % of most hyperthyroid patients. there’s pills that you could take to prevent the swelling behind your eyes. there’s certain types of steroids that prevents inflammations.
wow im still learning about hyperthyroidism because i found out 6 months ago that i have it this is scarey to know it can happy my eyes dont come out like that… but i guess its possible to start happening?
well I have this problem with my eyes but i dont’have no thyroid problem.. I have all the pain and bulgign eyes but they won’t help me.. S:
Good to know something can be done to rectify the damage done by the Graves Disease.
