Lasik is a surgical procedure intended to reduce a person’s dependency on glasses or contact lenses. Lasik eye surgery is a very popular technique known mostly for the general ease of the procedure.
LASIK stands for Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis and is a procedure that permanently changes the shape of the cornea, the clear covering of the front of the eye, using an excimer laser. The ability to focus varies upon three factors: the distance from the back to the front of the eye, the shape of the cornea and the lens. The cornea is the curved clear front surface of the human eye above the iris and the pupil. It provides approximately two thirds of the eye’s ability to focus.
